What this site collects, why, and what happens to it.
Last updated
This policy explains what this site collects, why it collects it, and what happens to it afterwards.
What is collected
- When you send a message through the contact form: your name, your email address, your phone number if you give one, the subject you choose and what you write.
- When you subscribe to updates: your email address, and your name if you give one.
- When you create an account: your name, your email address, and a password that is stored only as a hash that cannot be reversed.
- If you sign in with Google: your name, your email address and your Google account identifier, so the account can be recognised next time.
- Automatically: the standard information a web server records, such as the address a request came from and which pages were asked for.
Why it is collected
- To answer you when you get in touch.
- To send the updates you asked for, if you asked for them.
- To let you sign in, and to keep your account secure.
- To keep the site working and to find out why when it does not.
Who else sees it
- The company that delivers this site's email, so that a message can reach you.
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google, under Google's own terms.
- The company that hosts this site, which stores the data on its servers.
- Nobody else. Nothing here is sold, rented or traded.
How long it is kept
- Messages and subscriptions are kept while they are useful, and removed on request.
- Account details are kept while the account exists.
- Records of email this site sent are kept for a short period, so a message that did not arrive can be traced.
What you can ask for
- A copy of what is held about you.
- A correction, if something is wrong.
- Deletion of your data, unless there is a legal reason to keep it.
- To stop receiving updates, which every update also carries a link for.
Write to the address at the foot of this page to ask for any of these.
This policy may change as the site changes. The date above is when it was last edited.
